Colorado Safety Policy
Last updated on February 20, 2026
This page includes important information about Rivet’s safety policies and reporting procedures, as required under applicable laws of the State of Colorado.
Safety and Law Enforcement Co-operation
The safety of our users is our top priority. We take proactive steps to prevent and respond to conduct that poses a threat of harm to others. When we become aware of activity that may violate the law or endanger someone’s safety, our team may take appropriate action, including restricting account access, reporting concerns, or cooperating with law enforcement authorities.
We are committed to complying with valid legal processes and will respond in accordance with applicable Colorado and federal laws when we receive a legitimate law enforcement request.
Consent and Sexual Conduct
Engaging in sexual conduct with another person without their consent is strictly prohibited on our platform and is against the law in Colorado. Under Colorado Revised Statutes § 18-3-402, it is unlawful for a person to knowingly engage in sexual intrusion or penetration with another person without that person’s consent. Such conduct constitutes sexual assault, a serious criminal offense that can lead to civil and criminal penalties, including imprisonment.
For clarity: “Consent” means cooperation in act or attitude pursuant to an exercise of free will and with knowledge of the nature of the act. Lack of consent includes circumstances where a person is incapable of appraising the nature of the conduct, physically helpless, or under coercion, intimidation, or fear. A prior or existing relationship does not imply consent.
Any report or evidence of non-consensual sexual conduct will result in immediate review and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement. If a criminal investigation is initiated, we will fully cooperate with relevant authorities as permitted by law.
We will intervene when something or someone poses a threat of harm to another.

You can complain about User Content by contacting our Support team at the information provided above outlining the abuse and/or complaint, or you can block and/or report a User directly from their profile or in chat by clicking on “Report”. Blocking a User will prevent them from being able to contact you via Rivet. Any content which we consider in our discretion to be in breach of these Terms will be deleted and we may suspend or terminate the offending User’s account without any notice.
Submitting false reports for malicious, biased, or other illegitimate reasons is a violation of our Terms and may result in action being taken against your account.
User Verification and Criminal Background Checks
- We offer SMS verification and, in some markets, an identity verification feature.
- We may ask a user to complete a photo ID verification process if we suspect that an account is inauthentic, has been compromised, or belongs to someone who is ineligible to use our services.
- While we do not conduct criminal background or identity checks on all users, we may check users’ information against state sex offender registries when we have sufficient information to do so. Accounts found to belong to registered sex offenders are banned.
- No online photo verification or background screening process is foolproof, nor can it guarantee that a person is safe.
- Always be cautious when meeting new people online or in person.
- Our Terms prohibit the use of our services by anyone who has been convicted of or pled no contest to a felony or any crime involving sexual misconduct or violence. If we become aware that a user has a criminal history, that makes them ineligible to use our Platform and we ban their account.
Reported Accounts
We take all reports of misconduct seriously. We promptly review reports and, if we determine the user has violated any of our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, Privacy Policy, or other notices, we take appropriate action. Depending on the seriousness of the violation, consequences will range from a warning to a ban. Violations involving violence, the threat of violence, sexual misconduct, or other serious harmful behavior will result in a ban across the board on Rivet. We limit the information we share about reports when necessary to protect the safety and privacy of reporters and other involved parties.
All users have the opportunity to appeal actions taken against their accounts. Information regarding the appeal process is provided at our Help Center.
Reporting to Potential Match
In compliance with Colorado law, we send email notifications to Colorado users who have exchanged messages with a member who we have banned due to known or suspected fraudulent behavior.
“Fraudulent behavior” is behavior that, in our judgment, indicates the user poses a significant risk of attempting to obtain money (or something of value) from other users through fraudulent means, by using a false identity, or by attempting to defraud other users.
Otherwise, as per our Privacy Policy, we can only disclose a user’s account information in limited circumstances, such as when it is the subject of a lawful subpoena or warrant or otherwise required by law.
